Brachioplasty

Accumulation of fat along the back of the upper arms combined with lax upper arm skin is difficult to hide with clothing. Despite a healthy diet and exercise, many people still find they have localized fat deposits and skin laxity of the upper arms. Often the loose skin follows a weight reduction. The upper arms can be sculpted to reduce and contour the skin and excess fat. Wearing clothing that fits and raising your arms with pride is the goal.

Objective:

Two options exist for sculpting the upper arms. Liposuction can contour and reduce the fat through tiny entry points. Another option is to tighten the skin and remove fat by surgically taking away these tissues. The latter procedure requires more of a recuperation period and the scar along the inner upper arm is more extensive; however, this procedure is more appropriate for the upper arms that have loose or hanging skin.
Which procedure is ideal for you will be determined by your desires and the amount and quality of skin and fat. Dr. Rosenthal outlines the optimal procedure of choice. You will see an improvement in your arm contour and proportion, enhancing your self-image.

The first step toward reaching your ideal arm shape and size is to have a consultation with Dr. Rosenthal. Dr. Rosenthal will listen to your concerns. He will gently examine the areas of concern after which Dr. Rosenthal will customize a procedure for you. The benefits and potential risks will be outlined as well as what is to be expected from the procedure. You will have ample opportunity to address any concerns that you may have and ask questions. Dr. Rosenthal is calm, compassionate and understanding and he realizes that you are anxious. He will put you at ease and you will leave the consultation well informed, relaxed and confident that you have chosen a knowledgeable surgeon and artist who takes your trust seriously.

Surgical Technique:

Dr. Rosenthal will outline the areas to be contoured before entering the operating room. You will be guided into the surgical room and placed upon a comfortable table. Warm blankets are placed upon you to keep you cozy. Once you are asleep the areas to be suctioned and contoured will be injected with a combination of sterile salt water and local anesthetic. After the sculpting of your arms is complete elastic garments are put in place to support your skin and reduce swelling. After an uneventful sculpting procedure you will be taken to another room to be gently awoken and given some food and fluids to drink. Then off to home with a beautiful new shape.
